Cold calling

OK, so I got fed up with it all in the UK but these days we seem to get cold calls trying to sell us a new telephone service, new bank, new credit card, new internet connection etc etc. Cold calling on the house landline, on all the mobiles just gets OTT. I do find it more than a bit annoying when they call me on a business mobile trying to get me to switch networks when I dont choose the provider for all our business phones. How many times does one have to say "no interesante" before they get the hint?
Must admit though, I had to laugh just the other day as we switched from Telefonica to Ya.com for internet and having just done all the paperwork and terms and conditions etc., when I had a call from Orange asking me what internet provider I was with, firstly I thought that such info is my business and no cold caller gets an answer to such a question, then it clicked that Orange are somehow linked to France telecom who own Ya.com and when I replied that his question was a bit strange in that I thought Orange owned Ya.com anyway, he suddenly became a bit embarassed and apologetic, then made his excuse and rang off. You would have thought they would have done their basic research first to know who is already their customer !
I am fed up with leaving the phone off the hook whilst they ramble on as it runs down the batteries on the mobiles. But if only I could get two cold calls, one on each mobile, at the same time, they could chat away to themselves.

There's a great recording of how to deal with cold callers, I'll try and find it.
Basically, when the caller asks for your name u say u are detective so-and-so from homocide investigating the murder of the person they are asking for. He then gets the name and current address of cold caller and send local police down to interview him.
When I get home I'll try and find it. Posted it here before ages ago but can't remember where

I pretend to be an answering machine which says, "This telephone does not accept calls from undisclosed numbers" in Spanish and English then hang up. It may be just a coincidence but my cold calls have reduced drastically in the past few weeks.

Yes, a quick 'no hablo Español' has worked wonders for me until the other day when I was stopped in my tracks by the telefonica girl when she said 'un momento' and an English speaking male took the phone. I handed it to OH just as quick and said that they asked to speak to the person who pays the phone bill.
