Hola
Having been unfortunately involved in several funerals, can I say that it is essential to have something in place. I wrote an article not too long ago and reproduce the link below. The cheapest funeral is about 2,500€ and many directors do not take credit cards. There are lots of things to think about - doing nothing is not an option.

Is this the same funeral company who's boss also runs the Golf Club? They have funeral planning brochures advertising his funeral business in the club, though how they got your private number I dont know (unless you, perhaps, signed up to some mailing list?)
Jon
PS Handy for those people that get 'dead drunk' there
or the Bridge Club, who when they 'shuffled' didnt expect to deal out their 'mortal coil'
Or the gardeners who want to effectively 'push up the daisies'..... Ok ok will stop there!!

I am confused but then that seems to be the norm these days
You posted this in the Ayamonte Club section and therefore, reasonably, people think you live here. Also reasonable to think that the call was in Spain by an English speaker
so was it in UK the call saying they were opening in Ayamonte ? shakes head and thinks it is time for another coffee
I had heard about the possible opening of a funeral planners by a expat in Ayamonte, why does that sound alarm bells in my head I wonder ? I don't know.

Sorry to confuse you. The call was here in Ayamonte. We don't get many calls mainly using internet skype and mobile text to keep in touch. I am just bemused that anyone cold calling would have the landline number. We keep to the six months here and call UK home. I would hope for everyones convenience that is where I will die. However that is something we can't choose.
However it is very important to be prepared if the death occurs in Spain everything happens so fast and the funeral has to be paid for before it can go ahead. Far better to set up your own funeral plan by setting aside the money in an account that will be accessible no matter where the person dies.

What you have said here is so true and that is why funeral plans with an organisation are not a good idea because you could pay for a funeral in advance in the UK and die in Spain or vice versa and then the person left behind has all the hassle of gaining the funds back.

There are companies that will cover the funeral expenses in both countries with fuss or hassle, and therefore I would suggest that this is what is needed. Golden Leaves is one such company - I have no connection nor do I recommend - but I know people who are using it.
To die here (50/50 chance if 6 months in each) without anything in place is disrespectful of your partner / loved ones. The hassle they will have is unbelievable if nothing is in place.

Many people will not talk about their death but if they do this and sort everything out whilst they are fit and healthy there are no problems later and once it is done they only need to refer to it again if there are changes. This cuts down on the hassle for the person who has to deal with it all.
The piece that you have written is very useful and I hope that a lot of people will use it.

Do a lot of googling before purchasing a funeral plan. There are a lot of scammers out there...make sure the company (and your money) will still be around when you are not

Your phone number will have come from telephone book.
Numbers people supply to the Tentadero (for information) remain with the Tentadero - Guaranteed.
Yes there is an office in Laguna Square for Iberian Funeral Plans a Company with offices in Spain, Portugal and the UK who provide plans that offer full coverage in Spain/Portugal and the UK even when split your time between them - this is called dual certification.
