Coast to coast

Well living inland from all these Costa de Luz places, and loving where we live and we dont need a 2,5 metre dish just a 1.2 LOL.
I do love El Puerto and the little Place Puerto Sherry. But they both have a good smattering of Brits, but what of it. We live in a small village and the other day in our local bar there were 4 differnt languages being spoken German, French. Spanish and English, we like to think we are all Europeans.
It is a fantastic way to live all enjoying each others cultures and experiancing other ways of life.

Hi everyone,
Sometimes, I get reminded why I don't get on the forum scene that much, they remind me too much of the House of Commons and all those (mostly) little boy's shouting, jeering and laughing at each others childish remarks!
But anyway, Justlookin you never remarked on whether you had taken a look at Jerez? Amongst the 200,000 population you might find it hard to bump into too many Brits unless you take a trip up to Leroy Merlin! Recent studies show Jerez as being the cheapest price per square metre in Andalucia at 2,039 euros:
And how about Sanlúcar de Barrameda or Chipiona?
If you don't mind me asking Gallerie9, what is your village and the local bar called?

The Yacht Club/ Marina is dreadful to look at - how they could design such a monstrosity is beyond me.
As far as Brits in El Puerto, we have been at different times throughout the last year and the good smattering wasn't evident, although I think this shows that with the population of the City they just get lost.
Having said that I stick to the fact that we have gone one week or two hearing less than a dozen voices maximum.
Unfortunately we have got to live in a place near to a good size town but even inland from El Puerto prices are still higher than Valence province

We looked at the Valencia area first and it wasnt for us............. to many urbanizations, and to many cranes and of course lots of Brits, I agree you will get more for your money, but we live here full time, and I fell in love with Jerez and Cadiz, and knew this is where I wanted to live.
There are a smattering of Brits German and French, plus other eupeans, I mean just a few. But I know that makes where we live more interesting. and no, no one in the shops speak english but that is what we like, I know other areas of Spain are also like that.
I think all people love where they live and will defend it and so that should be.

I will have a look at the price comparison although I believe you, I have never been to Valencia or have any knowledge on prices of property etc.
I would like to ask you one thing if you don't mind, will you be seeking employment when you move to Spain?
I ask this as you seem to be basing your decision on where you want to live, alot on price? I think you said earlier that you didn't speak Spanish but having to learn the Valencian dialect would not be much use in the majority of Spain should you change your mind!
Have you thought about renting for 6 months and having a good scout around without commiting yourself to something right away?
I wish you luck where ever you finally decide to settle.

Yes I do appreciate the fact that in Spain they do not all speak the same dialect.
And yes again, we will be renting for at least 6 months in the beginning. We intend to live in Spain full-time not just have a holiday home.

That's cleared that matter up then!
Once again, I wish you good luck and if I find the type of property you are looking for at a Valencian price tag I shall let you no.
