Christmas Opening Hours?

Does anyone know whether supermarkets are likely to be open as normal on 27th December?

Yes, and on the 26th, Christmas day is the only holiday here until the new year, then you have Jan 1st and 6th.

And of course school holiday too; day varies year to year, they give the kids an extra day sometimes. If, for example, it falls on a Thursday then they have the Friday off & call it a 'puente'. This year just the Monday so no jollies off to the UK as per last year, when I went to London & the hotel was full of Spaniards:rofl::rofl::rofl:

It is the equivalent to our Mother´s Day so I think it is national.

It´s the Immaculate Conception, a religious holiday, and it is national.

We have a procession of the mothers and girls as a celebration of motherhood similar to one in the summer which is for fathers and boys celebrates fatherhood.

That sounds lovely. I guess they treat it like mother´s day because of the implications of the mother of Jesus getting pregnant.

Rosemary, do you know whether or not there is a mother´s day similar to the ones that we have in the UK and the US? I´m just interested.
