We seem to have two threads running on this any way of putting it alltogether ,does anybody know the numbers of people who dont have legal meters, and if the practice is still going on as you say why are they the council not being stopped from doing it surelly they know the trouble they and the solicitors are causing.

Over the last three months in my quest to buy a property in Chiclana only once in viewing over 50 properties was I shown one that had its own electric meter for that house only! Most new build villas have no planning permission have been built on land divided in a questionable way. This is how it works. One plot with old finca of lets say 2000meters knock old finca down and subdivide this in to 500 plots construct 4 new houses and run them all with the old fincas legal meter (counter in other three). Then green as grass foreigner comes along and buys lovely new illegal villa with his life savings trusting dodgy estate agent and solicitor and bingo vast profit for builder. Council does b----r all to put a stop to it so situation continues so all the parasites involved in this scam get richer at the expense of totally innocent people. Mind you the council are good at funding and constructing the brand new no expenses spared "Gerencia Muncipal de Urbanismo" which is completely out of charcter with any nearby buildings and the rest of Chiclana center which is a lovely old town.

Re: Chiclana
We had a visit from our builder last week. He brought a chap with him who took photos of the house and asked for our bank details and a copy of my passport. Does this mean a meter may be on its way!!! Also Telefonica turned up and said our neighbour could have a phone provided he dug the road up and installed all the cabling himself. Luckily he is an ex- BT engineer and so was able to but how many other people would have that knowledge.

Got all excited at Easter when Telefonica came round to install ours but everything stopped when they were unable to hang the cable across our neighbours garden.
Send a private message if you wish.

Re: Chiclana
Thanks for that Steve but next door now have a phone. Apparently if you dig the road yourself and install the cable, Telefonica will connect, which they did. At last a success story. Now the cable can go all the way down the road to connect all the neighbours.
