We have relatives that have recently moved to Spain and don't currently have the facility to have a landline phone thus are using a mobile phone.
We are looking at ways in which they can call family back in the uk via the internet which may have to be via a WAP connection or local dialup to a Spanish Internet provider.
Quite frankly don't know where to start looking from this end (uk) so can anyone advise best route? TIA

As JDR said Skype or Yahoo, they do need a microphone though. The next version of MSN (MNn Live Messenger) is meant to have greatly improved audio functions for VoIP.

There is a credit type card that you can buy from local shops for about 6 euro's
that enable you to use a mobile phone cheeply, also these cards can also be used from public phone boxes. you can get about 350 mins for 6 euro's, that is one way to keep costs down. There are also intertnet cafe's some of these can cost 2 euros an hour or more.
Using a mobile phone connected to the internet can be very costly as my wife can tell you on here Amina account for one month cost us 170 euros and she only allowed text only no photos... So you will have to decide which one is going to be cost effective.

They have cards you can buy online and they send you the access dialling numbers in an email to you. They have cards from any country by landline or mobile. The Millenium card looks good for your circumstances (Spain to Uk), looks like 50 mins + for 1 Euro plus 50 cents for using a mobile, UK to Spain would be a different card though. You can email them if you are not sure.

Hi Simon, I moved to Spain 5 months ago.We have downloaded SKYPE, it has been great as they charge 1cents a minute. I speak can speak to my mum for 30 mins any time of day and only pay 30p! My brother in the uk also downloaded it so it`s free to speak to hiim. Hope that helps you. Have a great New Year2006.
