Is there anything that I can buy (legally) to watch say the BBC channels, ITV channels and I would really have liked channels 4 and 5. Obviously do not want to get any sort of satellite dish (the community would keel over in a dead faint!). The television we have we did purchase in Spain.

commumity dish would not cost that much when shared .(the community would keel over in a dead faint!) love to see that

What spend money - you have to be joking! By all accounts the last AGM was a free for all over various things and people nearly came to blows!!

Big dish is not an option - via the internet I have to do something with the computer to make it think I am in England don´t I?

Just come back from spain and we took or sky card with us that we pay for everything on and we couldn't receive sky sports or the movie channels. This card is not for this set top box or something similar was the message. Also one of the sky boxes wouldn't turn on passed the power on light, tried to reboot by holding in the back up button and turning the power on and different remotes.Anyone any ideas?

yes - a sky card will only show sky sports and aky movies on its "home" receiver, the receiver that the sky has the card matched to - hence the "message this card is in the wrong settop box". you can get some recivers that are able to read these card and show sky sport and movies, but htese recivers require "reprogramming" and do lack the sky guide - they just have now and next informtion.

Never EVER power up the sky receiver whilst pressing the back up button on the receiver unless you are certain you are getting a good signal - this action gets the sky receiver to try and download any new software - a process that the reciver will do automatically anyway - so there is no real need to do it anyway!!

Are you saying that the reciver did have power, did the green power light show, what was the message on the screen (you may ghave to do the old "default transponder trick" to hlp boot your receiver - see my FAQ page.

Hi,thanks for your quick reply and explanation of the sky card. The other sky box is a pace and the red power light comes on and thats all.Tried different remotes that work perfect with the other sky boxes, and no more lights(red or green)come on.

had a few of these recently - diagnosis is a poorly receiver - something to do with power supply to the rest of the receiver. it can be repaired, but you never knowwhat else has been damaged....

it all boils down to what the repair cost , are the parts available (this is Spain, in August, suppliers are closed - heard that a few times last week!!), and of course how much is a new one.....or a second hand one - have a few here.....
