Default CGT based on Cadastral Valuations

A judgment declares unlawful the collection of the surplus value if there is no profit in the sale of a house

http://m.diariosur.es/malaga-capital...112220211.html

A very significant judgement IMHO which will come as a bit of a shock to many municipalities

Good news indeed, but the title of your thread is misleading as it is not CGT, but "Plus Valia Tax" which is an entirely different thing.

... why not change the thread title so that others aren't confused?

I stand corrected - but I used the familiar English expression - it is very similar.
Happy to change the thread title to avoid confusion if the mods can do that.

As far as I am aware, I don't have that option otherwise I would have done so.

OK I as a mod on another forum do have that ability I just thought it might have been the same here.

They are 'similar' taxes but absolutely not the same - don't they have CGT here as well?

Yes, they do have CGT. And it can be very expensive if you are non resident as many of the generous exemptions do not apply to holiday homes.

There used to be large allowances based on how long you had owned the property but these have almost all gone.
