I go to Gib every few weeks to shop in Morrisons, usually spend between £300-£400 a time on food as it saves money spending sterling instead of euros in Spain as the exchange rate is poor at the mo.
I don't smoke but I always get a carton of cigs on each trip for when friends visit. A couple of months back we went with another couple who bought a carton of fags each and then decided to stay on in Gib for the day and get a lift back with some other people.
So we ended up coming back thru with their shopping and cigarettes and low and behold got pulled over over by customs. They went thru all the shopping and found the extra 2 boxes of cigs, I was sent over to the office where I had the choice of either leaving the cigs there or paying the extra duty on them. So I paid up the extra 15 euros tax on each box and went on my way. Whole thing took 10 mins.
