Default car towed???????

off to the police station in a couple of hours time because...
got a call fm uk , mother is very ill, left my car in the little village near the train station. was gone for 17 days, on my return ,went to the little street where my car was parked and NO CAR... all along the wall were those metal things that are put across a street to block it off. Oh my god am hoping that the police have towed it away because it is a RH car (fully spanish reg) and as I am hoping to sell our property here in spain i dont want to buy a LH car. What I am asking is if the police have towed my car away shouldnt they have left a notice on the pavement to say they had done so????

Sounds to me as though there was a Fiesta and your car was in a street that needed to be cleared for a procession so was towed away. Normally in bigger places they put a notice on the pavement but not sure in small villages. If they did put a notice on the pavement it may have been washed away by the heavy showers that we had the other day or by the zealous ladies who wash the streets every morning.

Good luck with your visit to the police.

Oh Patsy I do hope you find your car Do you speak enough Spanish to explain the circumstances to the police? If not then take an interpreter with you as you really need to get across about your mother being ill and you were in a hurry to get home to her.

Good Luck - and do let us know the outcome.

GOT MY CAR BACK..... thank goodness, went to our local ajuntamiento and the nice man in there rang the police for me in the next village and i got a kind neighbour to drop me, gave the policeman 60 euros and he dropped me to my car which was in a restaurant car park, oh, cant tell you the relief i felt as we would be quite cut off without my car, thanks to you all for your kind thoughts... pat

Obviously they put it in the restaurant car park and not the police pound because you were parked legally on normal times but causing an obstruction if there was a procession or something similar.

Glad you got the car back.

Hope your mum is better soon.

Did you think that the yellow kerb was part of the fiesta road painting?

The ticket is timed at 11.20 am, the exact time we parked it there. Spanish parking meters are the same b!$£&+@s as UK ones

Which town did you get the ticket in?

I think if you pay it right away it is less.
