Car re-registration - what value ?
#16
Thanks Brian and Valenciatim for your replies. Brian, can you explain a little more about a car being considered part of one's chattels ? - this sounds like an attractive way of avoiding the registration tax, but I can't see what the logic is, from the point of view of the Spanish authorities.

Hello bbeau......it would certainly be tempting to try to avoid the bureaucracy, but my understanding is that if the Guardia stop you and find out your status, you're in trouble with them and they can even impound your car - is that not the case ?

Apart from that risk, no UK insurer is likely to offer more than 3 months cover abroad.

Green card went out years ago for the EU.
It`s not a good idea to tell people to break the law.

I doubt that the council have sold them back!probley sold by the owner cos there all the same make....
To be honest you shouldn,t have a car on uk plates if you live here, but if you are only working here for 6months to a year, then lets just say i wouldn,t bother if it was ME.
