i wouldn,t bother diong it if your only here for the year,just make sure its taxed and mot,d for the year...and you have youre green card..

Hello bbeau......it would certainly be tempting to try to avoid the bureaucracy, but my understanding is that if the Guardia stop you and find out your status, you're in trouble with them and they can even impound your car - is that not the case ?

Correct! What bbeau is suggesting is illegal. The Guardia can and do impound vehicles, and they have the power to crush them too.
Apart from that risk, no UK insurer is likely to offer more than 3 months cover abroad.

The council have probably sold them on to be shipped back, they are pulling lots of UK plates near me now.

Green card went out years ago for the EU.

It`s not a good idea to tell people to break the law.

I doubt that the council have sold them back!probley sold by the owner cos there all the same make....
To be honest you shouldn,t have a car on uk plates if you live here, but if you are only working here for 6months to a year,then lets just say i wouldn,t bother if it was ME.
