Default Car ITV

Hello
I hope somebody will be able to tell me if you can have your car itv before it's due date like in the uk.
My car needs it's first one the end of October and I will be out the first week of September will I be able to take it then.
Thank you.

Yes you can but the next due date will be 12 months - no credit for the "wasted" days.

Why 12 months Fred - didn't it used to be 2 years (as the norm and depending on age etc.)?

Is this another change I missed?

Still every 2 years until the vehicle is 10 years old AFAIK.

Yes, I was thinking of cars over 10 because mine is. It's 2 years up to 10.

Or of course in the case of the Kangoo type vehicle then after they are 10 years old then it is 6 monthly ITV´s.

Thank you.
You phone the local ITV inspection centre and make an appointment for when you choose before the due date. You will loose the days up to the date on your certificate but if it fits in with your committments then thats no big deal. I have mine done on a different date every year. The only thing now is that you cannot just leave it for a year if you are not using the car as they will follow up the missing test.
