Car insurance for non EU licence holders
My husband and I are living and working in Spain, we're both EU citizens and have NIE numbers. My husband has a S African licence and I have a Canadian licence and we both have international driving permits allowing us to drive in Spain. We'd like to buy a car but can't find a company that will insure us as neither of us has an EU licence - does anyone have any info that would help us?

I think the international permits become illegal if you are resident in Spain, you may be able to convert your licences into a Spanish one, though.

You will only be allowed to use your licences for 6 months after you become resident in Spain.
Unfortunately there are no facilities for exchanging a Canadian or South African licence. You will need to take a test in Spain to obtain a Spanish licence.
