Default Car conundrum

We live in mid France not far from the N10 which is I think the main arterial route up from Spain.

Just been to Angouleme and on the way back passed SEVEN car transporters all heading North loaded with new (or looked new) cars. All (cars and transporters) registered in Spain. All makes, Citroens, Volvos, Toyotas.

Does anybody know why?

Not sure but I do think some of the larger dealerships swap over their stocks to make it look like they are selling or perhaps it's in the hope of selling in another area.

Maybe it,s a dealer in France or UK that takes foreign plated cars in P/X and when they get a few, ships them to their countries to get a better price.

Reasonable thought, but the cars are Spanish registered so reregistering / tax would be prohibitive,

Is this "car" conundrum like the Countdown conundrum?

If so the answer must be "arc" as rac is not a proper word, and so disallowed.

With conundrums I thought the answer had to be a pun or else rhyme, in which case I'll go with "Mar".

I reckon they could be dumping them all in the Channel or filling in a big black hole somewhere, in a last ditch effort to boost Spanish car production and save jobs.

Possibly a more appropriate word would be "enigma", though it may take an enigma machine to figure it all out.

Now whatever happened to the last one which was so instrumental in confusing the Nazis and winning the war.
Oh I remember now they destrroyed it, big shame no doubt it could have been a major tourist attraction had they kept it.

Now what else rhymes with car ?
Could try bar perhaps, I'm sure someone in there will know exactly whats going on.

If they were brand new they would not have Spanish plates on them so more than likely are 2nd hand repossesed/sold for a song going to Germany for sale.

That sounds probable - thank you.

Just one of those little puzzles one likes to know the answer to

Maybe from Rajoy to Merkel and co. with love.
A little sweetener for the next EU loan.
