I just took it for granted that the OP,or anyone else for that matter would do the necc preparation relevant to their situation:)
With regard to the parents thing, only meant until the OP gets sorted, not long term:)
Why wouldnt your family helpout in a difficult situation:confused:

People do though, this is why we are telling them it is not as easy as they think.

Wouldnt it be a good idea to have a checklist,as I believe was suggested by another poster,of essentials to have BEFORE moving to Spain?

The wages aren't significantly different.
As your parents are no longer local?? - do you have other ties??
We speak English too!
Just a thought.

If we came back to UK it would have to be up north:p I hear the peeps can be OK up there;)

Don't be confused, there comes a time in every ones life when they want to do something else than look after their family, believe it or not parents want a life as well. I'm not saying we don't want to do it, but many expats that live here have taken a drastic drop in income, they have either taken early retirement, living on a small income or they have both private and state pensions to live on but with no other earnings coming into the house. I know I would offer a home to my kids if need be but it would be financially very difficult as we now live on about 800euros a month. Our nest egg is getting smaller by the month because we do help out our kids but we are not a bottomless money pit and one we will have to say no. Children have to become adults and responsible for their own lives at some point, no parent would see their kid come to harm but a line has to be drawn somewhere.

I noticed in another thread you said you were Spanish, not sure if you were brought up in Spain or somewhere else but your culture would be inbreed in you and the English way of life is very different to many other cultures where children, parents and grandparents are concerned. We tend not to live as one big family but we have our family units and often this means living many miles away from immediate family. The one thing I have noticed about living here is family is number priority, you only have to go out of a weekend and see large family's of many generations enjoying there time together, not so common in the UK.

Take care.:)
