I don't know about the legalities but I know a couple who do that. They live on a site with many other full time residents and are very happy.
I am sure you know it gets very hot in the summer but you may not appreciate how cold it will be in a caravan during winter

We spent a winter in a static caravan and it was easy to keep warm. Depends on how well insulated it is of course. If it's a fairly modern one it shouldn't be a problem. The legality depends on where it is sited.

We’ve got friends who own a mobile home on a large, well regulated site in inland Andalucia, which has every facility you can think off on-site. They’ve lived there happily for years, along with hundreds of mostly UK neighbours.
Their only complaint is the ever increasing site fees, it now costs them more for those fees than the average rent of an apartment on the coast, over £100 a week.
