Buying in Spain
Hi there - we have recently decided to buy a holiday home in Tenerife which will eventually become our winter home in the long term. However, I am extremely nervous at the prospect of dealing with Spanish property law and being ripped off. Any guidance or advice would be much appreciated on how to ensure a legitimate purchase. Any recommendations for a particular Estate Agent that can be trusted?

Re: Buying in Spain
Be very wary of estate agents and anything they offer or ask for (especially money and deposits).
If you are in UK contact Spanish embassy in London and they will give you a list of solicitors in Tenerife
An independent solicitor is a must

If you are more specific on your location in Tenerife then other forum members may be able to make recommendations.

When we were looking at properties in Valencia we chose one off this list and she was excellent.

We gave our solicitor PoA to deal with the purchase of the property when we bought, they also set up bank account, mortgage etc.

An easy way to deal with things, and at the end of the day, once the purchase is complete you can either revoke the POA or simply move banks/open another account should you wish. I am sure most would recommend finding a good, recommended solicitor and then going down the route of POA.
