Statistics show that in the UK 97% of people would use a lawyer when buying a property, yet for some reason the same logic seems to go out of the window when people go abroad.

No, you don’t need a lawyer, but how on earth people think that they can buy a property in a foreign country where they probably don’t know the legal system or even the language is beyond me.

I'm surprised the question has to be asked to be honest. As I said, it really boils down to your aptitude to risk. If I'm putting that kind of money into something then I want to do all I can to minimise risk. I'm not saying that it CANT be done by a gestor, I'm just that a solicitor has been fully trained over many years and is normally insured. Thats why you pay more.
