Default Buying a place in Mallorca

Hi there, I am looking to buy a place in Mallorca for around £250k (including taxes etc). How much can you realisticly expect to knock off of the asking prices there? can anyone recommend a good place to live where we can meet other people/families and also be within a 5 minute drive of the beach?

Thanks

You might have to be more specific. Every seller has different reasons why they want to sell, so there's no rule how much you can knock off the asking price. You can meet people everywhere and any place can be good, depending what type of person you are. What places are you looking at currently and why Mallorca? Is it for retirement, a holiday home, etc.?

Thanks for the response. It's a holiday home (hope to spend 3 months a year there (May-July) with a few long weekends and weeks during the rest of the year). We are in our thirties and I can work from anywhere. Would be great if we could get a detached villa with its own pool, but I am not sure thats realistic. I have seen nice villas in the areas of Puerto Pollenca and Alcudia for around £250-300k but have heard stories of people accepting much lower offers, but I realise this is not mainland spain and so sellers may not be as desparate.

You could look for a 0% to 30% discount

Some sellers will give you no discount at all and tell you to p*ss off if you offer anything lower than the asking price. Others will be more flexible. Those who are flexible will probably mention that quite early on during negotiations so let them do the talking. Then you can go for the jugular

The other method is to decide how much you are willing to pay for a place and just stick to that
