Hello all, just moved to spain and im looking for a decent reliable but cheap truck, the only place i can find reasonably priced 4x4s is on faceboom market place, but unsure if some are stolen! Could someone give me some insight into what to avoid or look out for when buying a second hand cheap runner in spain, i really dont want to buy a stolen car!

This one is just an example - look for the "Professional" tag if you want a dealer and be prepared to travel . The problem you face is that many dealers will not trade below a certain threshold - age, mileage etc so this may limit your choice but the site will give you a good idea of what to expect.

If by 'reasonably priced' you mean significantly cheaper than other places such as Milanuncios, Autoscout24, etc. that tells you all you need to know about vehicles (and many other items) advertised on Facebook, buy there at your peril!
Once again the lack of a location precludes members making recommendations based on personal and local experience

Be very careful buying, and go to an established firm, many of the places you see are, as you say, selling stolen, or accident repaired from write offs, and they may just look OK cosmetically. I bought my first one from a second hand dealer, but got all legal documentation with the car, I was fortunate to have a friend there who was an ex police driver from the UK and he piloted it on the test drive. I did eventually buy new from a dealer.

You also get a limited warranty with a car from a dealer..And most will arrange the insurance as well....
I assume you have an NIE, padron or rental contract or deeds to the address you will be registering the car to?
As you havent said where in Spain we cant give recommendations.
But if its in the Alicante area I know a really good bloke who has been in business for many years and has cars at good prices.

You can ask the DGT for a short report on a car for free or a detailed report for €8.67. You need a digital certificate or Clave PIN.
Possibly also available in the Mi DGT app, I haven't checked.

Better off buying the first car from a dealer. They will take care of changing the permisso and if the ITV is due, they can take care of that as well.
