Can I ask what kind of bar you run, where it is and what tap beers you provide.
Also what type of fridges do you use to store your bottles of beer, and do you sell cans of Spanish beer ? Our frindges are the type you lean into with the sliding top lids, does that make sense?? And we dont sell cans of spanish beer but we sell bottles of spanish beer. Can I ask why? |

Can I ask why? lol, good luck to you, That is the kind of bar I would be happy in. I think ive seen why some brit bars dont work (in Spain and the More so in the UK) and you have exactly what I would do, but not the way others would. I would add If I was to open a bar in the UK it would be similar to yours and I think it would be sucessful Wherever your bar is maybe one day Ill call in. |
Re: Buying a bar
Hi this is the first time I have been on here so apologies in advance if it is all wrong...I have been readig the threads with great interest as my partner and I are yet more Brits aiming to open a restaurant overseas. I am learning Spanish and have many years bar and travelling experience. He is a businessman so I think we are at least semi-equipped? We are just exploring all the possibilities at the moment, I have a question for those of you who have/have had a bar around licensing. I have a personal licence to trade alcohol and we are looking at what other qualifications, if any, we need and how English qualifications are transferrable. I have seen from some of the other discussions that the official way is not always THE way but are wanting to pave our way without being naive or disrespectful. ANY ideas would be warmly welcomed.
Thanks:confused: |

Oh and after a year and a half here i've never once mopped up sick....... I think inland bars wouldn't have the sick problem, because you don't get the young binge drink type of person, but I have on more than one occasion had to tiptoe round puddles of sick in pub loos, and believe me it's not pleasant. Anyway, as I said before, I wish you luck, and keep up the good work !! |

Gardeners do make quite good money in Spain, but I can see your point.
