Find a Lawyer you can trust, not one recommended to you by the seller or agent.

Sorry, but the laws regarding buying in Turkey have nothing in common with Spanish law, except that at the end you will have bought a house. The OP needs to find a trustworthy Spanish lawyer, as said not one recommended by the agents.

Unfortunately I can't help with a recommendation for a lawyer as I don't live anywhere near the area you would like to buy in, but I remember that when I bought my house the Spanish legal firm I used (which I was very happy with) charged 1% of the purchase price in fees.

Welcome all the new posters on this thread, especially tricky ads:D

Why use a Lawyer based in the UK. all they will do is farm it out to a Spanish lawyer and take a cut:confused:

Why would you use a lawyer who lived in Nerja when you are wanting to buy in Villamartin (I have to ask why there??)? Your best advice is to find someone who has bought in the area and ask them what are the pitfalls. If you search for a co.uk forum situated in the nearest large town (torrevieja) you will find a lot more useful help on there.

The holy grail.....a trustworthy lawyer
Thanks for all the replies.i am not rushing into anything, thats why I joined this forum. I read an article by peter esders who said it would be prudent to use a british lawyer who practises spanish law, im just scared of being ripped off.

Rspltd-thanks for your input....are you asking why would I want to buy in villamartin or why use a lawyer in nerja?

rspltd Jul 9th 2013 11:54 am

Re: buying in alicante

Both really. Your lawyer would have to attend at the Notary so any travel costs would add to the bill hence the Nerja comment. As far as Villamartin goes, it's probably as near to Britain in the sun as it is possible to get in Spain. Is that what you want?
