Default Bus Service on Costa Esuri ??

Everyone cross your fingers tonight at 6pm, Ayamonte time...
There is a meeting in the Town Hall tonight where amongst other things, a proposal and lets hope a positive vote... to bring a bus service to Costa Esuri.
About time! Lets all hope the proposal is approved.

Members of the public are allowed to attend the meeting and could lobby their councillor beforehand for a positive outcome. You are not allowed to speak at the meeting and of course only elected members can vote.

Yes and No. First thanks to all who went along and lobbied for a positive outcome.

The vote resulted in the Mayor with his slim majority of one at first voted down both proposals however futher lobbying by the minority party and the one neutral member persuaded a change of mind and it appears that the bus service will go ahead with a 3 month deadline set for commencement. Of course the council have no resposibility for providing telecoms but that result was also reversed and the council will lobby for improved services as soon as possible. We can but hope.

This is the first positive outcome of the campaign to get residents registered on the Padron and the Election Register. I was one of the early voters at the Poll Station set up for Esuri opposite Mercadonna and there must have been a steady stream all day since there were enough new votes to almost change the council. It is split 10/10 with the one communist member holding the balance. If we keep plugging away a few more decisions may be for the benefit of Esuri. It does not matter which party holds power we need them to regard Costa Esuri as a full part of the Municipality and give us the same services as others. After all we do pay a higher level of IBI and EUC charges than other areas of the town.

No, I'm only second best on the resto reviews to my pal Jon who has deeper pockets and more sophisticated taste than me. ;

Thanks for the feedback.

I read this article today and wondered if this was from the same meeting? It would appear to allow certain elected members of the public a voice at certain meetings:

It says that two groups can present motions for debate at full council meetings: any legally constituted association registered in Ayamonte (EUC?) and groups of residents provided they can garner 500 signatures. If the motion is approved, it will be included in the order of the day and the nominated representative will have five minutes to make his or her case, which is the same as council members in a debate.
Also, any resident can present a question to be answered by giving a week's notice prior to the council meeting. Residents can request an extraordinary full council meeting with a petition of 1000 signatures.

Regards

On the EUC cmttee we had seen this change to council procedures and it was raised recently. The EUC is a legally constituted association but our understanding was that we are also required to have 500 registered members to take part. For this reason at the last cmmttee meeting a membership drive was planned. Our President is ideally placed to present our case at Council being completely bi-lingual and passionate about moving Esuri forward as soon as we are able either through an increase in membership or a re-interpretation of the rules.

I would urge all owners and long term residents to join as soon as you are able. Check ou the website at:-

http://www.costaesuriar.com/index.html

where you will information on joining.

The association is moving forwards and has recently taken part in events jointly with other Ayamonte associations (yes there are others) and the Ayuntamiento.

This was the big promise from the Mayor at the first Ayuntamiento Plenary session following the much delayed EUC AGM. We have not heard anything since so it would make an ideal first petition to the council as soon as we are able. Unfortunately Steve and Lisa have left us for pastures new so we are stumped for first hand information from any meeting of the EUC committee. However worst of all we are now without the sterling work Lisa put into our website. So here is a plea if there are any gifted website designers and maintainers out there who are members or potential members come on in and help out. You can do this by getting in touch with the CERA SECRETARY at:-
