It is called 'Toro de Lidia', and it is not given to orphanages- it is sold to carnicerias/butcher shops where it is highly valued for it's taste...something about the muscles being engorged with blood from the exertion of the bullfight. It usually can only be found during Fiestas, when there are local bullfights. Many resturants also have specialties using Toro de Lidia, though for every pound of real Toro, I bet 9 mpre are served of just plain cows.

A few blogs do say that the meat is sold and the proceeds go to orphanages, but I have not found anything substanitive to confirm that...my Spanish wife says it is probably an urban myth.

Back in 1971 when on holiday in Spain I was told by a couple of locals that the day after the bull fight the meat was given away to the local needy in the village's near by to where the bullfight had taken place also local hotels bought the meat.
