Thanks guys for all your replies. I have tried the cous cous but it is a lot finer than cracked bulgar and just doesnt seem to have the same taste and consistency.
I do have a Mercadona near me so will have a look there Thanks
I know what a fussy git

Hiya - I love bulgar wheat too but have only ever been able to find it in the few and far between health food/ecological shops. Never found it in any of the usual supermarkets. Couscous is widely available but is completely different, being made from semolina so is more like a pasta than a chewy, nutty grain and not as flavoursome!

Basic bulgar wheat is very similar to couscous as it is parboiled durum wheat flour (which is what pasta is ).
Cracked bulgar wheat is the crushed grains and is not parboiled so is a different product with a different texture.

And for those with a wheat intolerance, try quinoa. Eroski has it (wash it well) as well as health food shops.
