BT (as in British telecom)..
I am enquiring to ascertain if anyone has used BT Arrakis service or any other BT services...
Where we live, our English Conexiones Centre has made enquires for an alternative ADSL supplier and we are thinking of signing up as we would save about 20 euros a month compared to Movistar... Regards |

Has it????....I could not find anything....maybe it's me and I did not do a sufficiently good search....

Re: BT (as in British telecom)..
They have been mentioned before and nearly all the comments were negative.
I think the main confussion is that it's not actually BT. The conclusion for most of the posts about Telefonica / Movistar was "better the devil you know" <snip> |

Re: BT (as in British telecom)..
Thanks for the replies...
All we are trying to do, as are so many others, is to find an ADSL supplier who will supply a decent service, without having to pay exorbitant amounts of euros......our Movistar monthly bill is now over 75€ for SFA....... We have no objection to paying the Line Rental, but to pay 50€ a month on top, for an ADSL service, where we are lucky to get 1mbps download...... We notice someone in our village has gone over to WiMAX, which I gather is around 33€ a month inclusive of IVA for around 4mbps download.....so we may go down that route....... Even after all years we have lived here, it is still frustrating to get a straight answer from any ADSL supplier..... |

I live in the campo so only get 1mbps but still have to pay 30€ for ADSL plus 14€ for line rental (plus IVA) Find someone who can discuss (argue) with telefonica in Spanish and find yourself a deal:thumbup: |

I live in the sticks and pay 29 euros for 3mb with Movistar, line rental is 13 euros. I have seen others here paying 50+ so I don't understand why.

Because that was the old charge (well, about €40 for just ADSL) and they refuse to lower the price for existing customers.

Re: BT (as in British telecom)..
Vodafone will take over your Telefonica landline & supply ADSL 3meg for.....
Line rental 15eu ADSL for 19.90 (3 meg) The first 6 months are at half price, and the 12 months at 19.90. WiFi router supplied with a free 2g dongle to use until the line becomes theirs from Telefonica (up to 2 months), btw 2g is slow as you would expect being free. You can though upgrade the package at anytime to include a 6meg 3g dongle for about 6eu a month should you need to become mobile. Telefonica would no longer give me the 3meg 19.90 (been two years on this) so I decided to switch to Vodafone who will/have. |

They appear to have a very limited area that has cover, which seems odd with a landline service, doesn't cover my area anyway. I seem to remember a thread before where some people had threatened to change operators to get movistar to give them a better deal. |

Do you get a signal ? Cos I know someone that has permanent problems and is more or less on 2G all the time.
Vodafone also throw in free Spanish fixed & free weekend mobile calls (which I like) as part of the package. |
Re: BT (as in British telecom)..
I find it shocking how much people are paying for ADSL in Spain and keep up to date with reports and mails about the various "offers" (if you can call them that).
We launched into the ex pat market recently thinking that sales and support in English would be the selling point and it isn't because people are keen to save money first and foremost. |
