Hi, just received a email from our daughter who lives in Canada, who as just come back from a trip to England (Birmingham) 'The Mackadown pub is a Lidl store now and the old BSA factory opposite is a Bingo hall!!!


That really sums it up doesn’t it, what was of one of the best motorbike factory’s in the world is now a f…..ing bingo hall.

I just came back ....... The Mackadown Pub deserved it, lets be honest :D
All manner of places are no longer what you remember them being I'm afraid

BSA....I rode on the back of one when I was 16. I actually tried riding it, kangarooed and came off. We used to say it stood for bits stuck altogether :p

I used to play soccer matches on the grounds of BSA against other local schools. Golden Hillock??? Been so long I don't recall.
I remember the whistle going and all the people pouring out, very confusing to a 10 year old

Yes, Golden Hillock Road. Misnomer really, there certainly aint any Golden Hillocks around Small Heath, just one big Green Asda

Triumph m/c's are still in production.

My dad's last full-time job was at their Meriden works before they shutdown. They then moved about under new ownership-see below.

I remember my dad getting a 650cc shooting star in the early sixties ( I was in Aden at the time ) . His bet on the derby came second , prince simon . 1st was calcador I think .
Anyway going over the old airfield near foxton , leics. the chain broke and locked the back wheel up . They ended up in hospital , not really serious tg but the bike had to go . Got a hillman minx so end of his biking days .
