One thing to be aware of is the fact that the plumbing for washing machines here is one cold tap not hot and cold.

It's the same in the UK Rosemary, been cold fill only for probably 15 years, since washing at 40°C has been the norm in fact, now of course it's even lower

Hey In addition to table lamps - can light fittings be adapted to Spanish wiring too ? ?

You would be far better off the buy in Spain, almost 100% of Spanish bulbs are ES fitting, not Bayonet, we didn't take any. We left all the table lamps and bought new ones on the day after arrival. You will be pleased to know that almost all shops selling electrical equipment will come and fit them for you, often the same day, We wnt to an electrical store and bought a new ceiling light fitting, this was in the morning, in the afternoon they were delivered and two men came to fit them, we wanted one fitting moving from the living room to the kitchen as well, and they did that for €10. Didn't do it myself because I wasn't sure about Spanish wiring, also there are no wooden joists to screw into, just the plasterboard and concrete.
