'For the original on the Alpujarras you must not forget Gerald Brennan "South of Granada" ...' a film was made of this book. Worth a look......(same title)

Hi all,

These are some of the best books I've read recently for the Iberian Peninsula:
  • Ghosts of Spain by Giles Tremlett.
  • Death on The Algarve - Eyes of The Water by K. E. Heaton.
  • Roads to Santiago by Cees Nooteboom.
  • The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho.
Thanks to everyone so far for some great suggestions.

Best wishes

John

Doves of war by Paul preston
tells of the experiences of four women in the Spanish civil war. One aristocracy and one ordinary woman on each side. Very enlightening.

If any of you read in Spanish I cannot recommend this one highly enough

SOme of his other books are available in English but for reasons I cannot understand, this one isn't.

A friend of mine has just recommended "The Crusader" by Michael Alexander Eisner. Can you please advise... has anyone else read this one?
