No country or people will ever reach perfection in that respect and there is increasing concern about the level of domestic violence and child abuse here in Spain at present, however the problems relating to the treatment of women in Western society appear to be miniscule in comparison to what is still happening in India.
Not that, that is any reason for no concern. Hopefully the (expected) new government will increase police efficiency and other measures which a legal team has recently advised, but have not been fully implemented. |

Both statements are meaningless. There are atrocities of this sort on every country. As you have made it personal I still cannot get the case of the little four year old beaten and starved for a year and then murdered just a few miles from our UK home. "lessons will be learned" the only answer from the authorities who just 'watched' it happen. One of a long list of children in a country where there is no excuse of abject poverty among some communities. |

Pakistan is actually a different country. There is no comparison, many have described it as a "rogue" country for other reasons. It is poor, most women illiterate due to the extreme Muslim governments it has had. Just looked up this case, what happened is obvious to those with just a little more intelligence than the police dealing with the case. A family arrested for stoning the police, they took down the entire family names which included the baby. At court the ridiculous situation was revealed and sorted. Sort of thing the newspapers love. |
