Just a heads up for anyone living out here, looks like bin charges across Spain are going up in 2025. Got told by a neighbour this morning and then saw a mention of it in the local paper.

Apparently some areas are bringing in a system where you're charged based on how much rubbish you throw out. Something like “pay as you throw” classic. Basically, if you’re not recycling properly, expect to pay more.

They’re saying it’s all tied to EU rules and trying to get people to cut down on waste. Fair enough, but it sounds like bills might go up by quite a bit. Some towns already looking at 30 / 40% increases from January.

Worth checking with your ayuntamiento to see what they’re planning locally. Our town hasn’t said much officially yet, but the rumour is weekly collections might drop too.

Anyone else heard anything? Or know if renters will get hit the same as owners?
