Big PC Store in Alicante
Hi,
Im looking for a good PC store in Alicante. Im kind of looking for a higher end laptop like a Dell XPS or even alienware and i will probably end up buying from Dell but i would rather buy it from a store if i can get something with similar specs, it doesnt have to be an XPS, thats just the type of specs im looking for.
I already googled and visited a few PC stores by looking at the map and they all turned out to be small stores with a handful of PCs after wasting my day wandering around. Cortes des ingles i know has a PC section as does the store in Plaza del Mar 2 but to be honest i didnt notice before what specs they have. Is there any big stores in Alicante im likely to find what im looking for in?

Try Media Markt - they have a huge shop on one of the out of city retail parks
http://www.mediamarkt.es/mcs/marketi...,28356,-5.html
But many of the smaller shops are part of buying groups and offer good prices and services. (IMO)

This link takes you to the store I use, you should change to your nearest one they are franchises.

There is a smaller Cortes Ingles store in Alicante which only sells PCs. I found the staff to be helpful but not very knowledgeable.
If you want a DELL, you can order on line for delivery in Spain. I did and found it cheaper than buying in a shop.

Even worse, they have a branch near me.
Wot's the catch (this could turn out to be expensive )

Hang on, I'm confused. I just looked at this outfit and their prices seem ....... reasonable I nauturally assumed they'd "forgotten" to include IVA, but the website states it's included.

Recently I had my first equipment failure, I was given the option of refund or new item, I choose the new item but paid the difference for an upgrade.
They are small franchises and usually I have to order, but deliveries are fairly quick.
I now check the website, email the store and pick up a few days later when informed parts have arrived, no money upfront.
Mind you my nearest store opened up only a few months back and I was the first customer which gives me a bit of leverage
I've never bought a full unit, I tend to build my own desktops.

APP - excellent company. They are franchises as already mentioned so they have to offer good service.
Online I have used http://www.alternate.es/html/index.html
Huge range, good prices and quick delivery. I think it is part of a big German operation.

Their warranties are exceptional as they offer on-site repairs in their basic warranty and their extended warranties are very cheap.
I can't see the point of buying a Dell from a store. Dell was and is primarily an online operation unless you are a business customer.

We use our local APP store too. Desk tops are built to order. The guys running the shop we use are geeks and know all the ins and outs. They can build a system to your requirements. Advice for lap tops is good too.
If something is not in stock or will take too long to order they offer good advice on alternative products.
In the past we have also use infocopy.es But these guys were not so geeky. But service was still good, advice less so.
Thanks for the tip on alternative website Fred.
PS when I say geeks that does not mean they speak geek. Things are explained in simple terms. What you want, over price.

Is http://www.alternate.es/ broke or something?
When i use the laptop finder option it only gives me options for Apple, when i click on todos los portatiles it only shows tablets, many of the drill down options also just show accessories instead of laptops. Am i doing something wrong or is it a bug, right now i cant see any laptops other than mac on any page? Tried chrome and firefox and same in both

Re: Big PC Store in Alicante
Thanks guys, ive tried out Corte De Inglas, Media Markt and im going to try Fnac shortly, nobody mentioned fnac so far so thats not a good sign, they do have what looks to be a lot of higher spec pcs on the website at least but not sure if its a big or small store in Alicante.
Both Corte deInglas and Media Market had a good selection but the majority were medium specs, I5's, under 1900 x 1080, no ssd etc so only a handful of choices for what i was looking for, but for someone looking to spend €500-1k i think both are very good choices.
Im kind of impatient and want to be something on the spot rather than wait past this weekend for delivery so id rather buy offline. i already have an I7 XPS 15 but it got water damage and has had a bunch of issues so i dont want to buy the same machine again and there is nothing that matches it on the dell site in terms of specs other than Alienware stuff which is probably overkill as im not into gaming
Appreciate all the replies

Re: Big PC Store in Alicante
If its helpful for anyone else looking for high spec laptops, the best walk in store i found was Cortes De Ingles although i asked them to install windows in English, they told me come back in 2 hours, then after 2 hours, another 30 mins, so i left it 4-5 more hours and they said tomorrow only on 45%, each time they said it was very slow to install and was only on x% which was bs, when i came back the next day they gave it to me but when i got home it was all in Spanish lol.
However you can save yourself that headache, windows 8 makes it pretty simple to switch to English without reinstalling even if its a Spanish only disk you can download the install package and don't even need to reinstall just reboot the PC. Everything is changed, menus, logging etc

You'll still need to install windows in Spanish so if you don't speak Spanish you might want to use your phone to translate so you know what your configuring.

Re: Big PC Store in Alicante
as someone who is looking to upgrade VOIP telephones it is a nightmare out there especially if you let the likes of BES posters guide your preferences.
You really need to make up your mind, make a decision and stay with it.
You had that option when buying your current PC eqpt, tween Microsoft, Apple, or Open Source.
Most people take the "easy" or "safe" option and go with Microsoft.
go with YOUR preference, stick with it through hell and high water, and believe in the systems you have plumped for.
at least if it all turns to dog's turds you know you can blame only ourself and mean it.
