Default Beware buying on Blanket trips

Be aware when buying bedding products on the Blanket Factory trips (SNIP)

We brought a Bio Memory Mattress with over blanket and 2 pillows 8 years ago for £1000, based on the mattress having 10 years warranty, (£100 per year for extra comfort compared with spring matresses). Whilst there has been no problems with the bedding, we where fine and pleased with the investment.

This month we went to change the mattress outer cover and noticed a large black patch on the underside, took the outer cover off and noticed the inner cover had disintegrated. We emailed the factory for assistance and advise, they told us they don't have problems with their mattresses, so we must have damp.

After a few exchange of emails, where we confirmed we don't have damp and invited them to take the mattress away for tests. They told us that they where sorry for our problems and where not prepared to take any further actions.

If you want to use the blanket Factory trip for a free outing, fine, but if you are looking for a long term investment of a mattress, be aware of their poor or non existent after care and take no notice of their 10 year warranty on their matresses because it will never happen.

(SNIP)

Hi

We don't do name and shame on the forums here, so I removed the names but left the thread, as we do welcome your alert to the possibility of such problems with blanket trips

Hi mitzyboy, yes that's fine, in future I will leave the companies name out, although I hope I don't need to write a negative post again.

On this occasion, hopefully our bad experience with this company, will be helpful when others are making decisions.

The reason I asked what type of property you had was because going back some years when we first moved to Spain, we stayed in a property for a couple of months before we settled down. It was a new villa but stuck on the shaded side (autumn/winter) of the mountain in Denia, and it was very damp. On leaving the property the end of December, we turned the mattresses and found a damp patch underneath. This was coming up from the floor, although it was hard to see. This was only after a couple of months. I imagine after a number of years this, too, would have gone black. I was just curious and that is why I asked.

Hi la mancha, see where you are comming from, thought you wanted to buy our property.lol

We have a second floor apartment, lived here for 9 years or so, had no damp problems. The blanket Factory trip company would not aknowledge our views or and someone to look at the mattress, they just said they don't have problems with their mattresses, end of complaint.

On the contrary, there is such a thing as a free meal and a free trip.
They can't force you to sit and listen to more than an hour and a half of claptrap and brainwashing.

Do your own thing during that time, then enjoy whatever else is on offer.
They are doing their best to rip you off, so don't feel guilty about ripping them off.

Interesting post so sorry for you. Shame that the company names were taken out though.

When you holiday in Spain, they will offer a trip including a visit to their blanket factory, for an hour or so demonstration of bedding, most people living over here will know who they are.

Good for the trip but be aware if you want to buy (normally bio memory or Marino lambs wool matresss, with pillows and blankets) as you can buy cheaper in the UK with a better consumer protection.

We did that several times, and went to the presentations at a hotel near Punta Prima, sit through the guff, and then have a free, yes FREE, lunch.

A lot of stuff on Google about these trips. Comments vary, some saying that you can get better in the UK for less. One said the trips are dreary as they just go round picking up people from various hotels. Many have since been pestered by timeshare companies.

I've done them quite a few times without sitting through the tripe or having any hassle at all.

The best was probably a fabulous all day trip from the South of the Island to Taganana on the N.Tip of Tenerife.
First Santa Cruz, then a spectacular route over the Mercedes mountains, excellent meal in Taganana and back via the Northern Rainforest and La Laguna.

Can't have been bad for precisely zilch pesetas.
