Default Best way of taking personal stuff to UK

WHen we move back to UK, there are things such as personal files, tax health care, sentimental stuff etc which can't go on the removal lorry, and would have to go with us,
What is the best way of transporting these items?
We could take extra luggage and fly but I would worry about it getting lost
We dont want to drive back
We don't want to send them by parcel courier, we want to have it with us.
There are firms who provide chauffeur driven vans for small loads and pets who will also take us- any idea how much that would cost and any recommendations?

I understand you not wanting to drive back, but it doesnt have to be traumatic, it can actually be a pleasurable trip with a hotel stop on the way.

With that in mind if you change your mind you could use a one way small van and take a nice slow drive through France or go on the Bilbao Ferry with someone like Way2Go or jHire. Everything is safe and with you all the time

Alternatively we used Way2Go for our last lot of stuff that came back, and they provided the driver. They do part loads and they are also registered to carry pets

You could try a train or coach - that way the luggage stays with you all the way.
I think you'll find that a small van etc which will take you as well as luggage and pets is called a taxi and will cost a lot.

For your requirements the coach is a good option.Your allowed two suitcases plus hand luggage each, which although the ticket stipulates they should be medium sized,in reality they aren't weighed and as long as you put them in the luggage hold yourself and don't expose the driver to the risk of a hernia, you'll be OK.

I went on their website put in details, but they kept asking for the destination, which I had already put in! Frustrating, as it might well be an option for me.

Dont know what I'm doing wrong as it won't let me put the destination in
I must be getting a different set up to you.
Thanks for pm, but it would be easier for me to look and compare online.

From the trips I've taken they are the only company offering a direct ticket from Spain.Up until last year Eurolines would only book you to Paris then you needed to wait in line for another Paris-London ticket.Really odd as they will book London-Spain direct journey's.This may have changed since i traveled last.

No thats not quite correct.
You'll note I worte one way van. So thats van hire for two days, or however long you want it, and your own time
Train or coach of course is an option, but does that help with the pets I wonder

The OP specifically asked about a chauffeur driven small van and not self-drive! And no mention of taking a pet (except as a generic description of an example service)

Did you read my comment "With that in mind if you change your mind "

They also said "There are firms who provide chauffeur driven vans for small loads and pets who will also take us- any idea how much that would cost and any recommendations?" and thats why I mentioned pets.

Sorry, Mitzyboy but I was ignoring you and answering the OP's original post
