Benefits????
HI there,
I am asking this question on behalf of my sister who wishes to purchase a house out in Spain and live there part time. She is recovering from breast cancer, having had a double mastectomy and therefore is unable to work.
Can she still claim benefit while she is living there part time, I think she gets DLA.
She is there at the moment at a friend's villa and she finds her stress levels non existent.
Please help if you can,

err not too sure, but, if she is not living in spain permanently then surely the dla goes into her uk bank account and she can draw her money in spain , as i say i'm not too sure but i seem to remember a "place in the sun"programe and one of the ladies was on dla for depression and she drew her money in spain

If you have a look in the free beer thread at the top of page, there is a link to DWP, and there is a bit on claiming benefits while living abroad.
If you can`t find what you are looking for, phone them up and asl a few subtle questions.;-)
Although things may of changed now because if you are in Spain for more than 3 months you are deemed to be resident of Spain and you will lose all your UK health benefits, but I think disability payments may carry on.

Hi there, Incapacity Benefit can be claimed even if you are a resident in Spain.
DLA can only be claimed if you are a Non Resident, and live in the U.K for six months of the year, and Spain the other six months.
If you were receiving DLA before 1991 you are still entitled to claim even when you become resident.
After 1991 you are not entitled, you are only allowed to claim if you stay six months in any given year in Spain.
