Default Banking in Gibraltar

Hello

Can you live in Gibraltar and manage with a UK bank account or is it best to open a local one?

Thanks

It's still legal for expats to hold a UK bank account. But there are certain conveniences to keeping a local one. It's also still legal to have more than 1 bank account. You can have both. I do.

Yes although some businesses are averse to taking UK Bank cheques due to the time it takes to clear them.

However at the moment with the loss of Barclays the local clearing system is in turmoil.

Debits are free, remember Gib uses £s

If you have a N&P account from UK then although N&P no longer have a High St presence here their card is usefull because they apply no charges when using it anywhere in the world.

Let's not let a few facts get in the way of another good porkie, proving the ignorance of everyone else. I'm still chucking about the Heathrow porkie.

He could do Eveready bunnie adverts. Just keeps on going...

I agree. That was who I thought it was straight away. Why do people get so aggresive.

We opened a NATWEST account in Gib and held a NATWEST account in UK whilst we were there.

There's an average of 3.6 porkies per day from that one. Member of the hall of fame. No need for alarm. He's used to it. I think it's a hobby.
