hi can anyone tell me if credit searches done when you open a bank account in spain and what docs I need

Credit checks are typically performed when you request credit (e.g., a credit card, loan, etc.). Opening a bank account is not a request for credit. The process takes about 15 min. at most banks.

Beware though, if there is an embargo against you, opening a bank account in your name is like waving a flag that reads "come get my money!". It will simply vanish from the account without warning.

I have just opened an account with Sabbadel Sol bank to pay my utilities and council taxes etc on the property I have just bough in Algorfa, without opening a bank account in Spain how would I pay my debts. how can they just take money out of the account without just cause this must be illegal

Welcome to Spain!

The people taking the money will believe that they are doing it legally. That is, they may think you owe tax or may have miscalculated a debt.

The good thing about DD's in Spain is that the majority of them can be reversed immediately.
