Hi everyone
We are having to move back to the UK although have loved living in Spain and would stay if we could, I have found all Spanish people I have met to be very nice and very helpful. We are travelling back with the kids
and are going to need a nice cheap hotel/motel just up from the spanish boarder can anybody recommend any??
Thanks

Try Formula 1. V. Cheap & cheerful. You'll find one on the edge of most French cities going north from Irun. Nearest on to the border is on the southside of Toulouse.
BTW, have you checked out the Spanish ferries (P&O, Brittany) as this way may work out as cheap and less stressful, especially in the spring.
Anyway, all the best for your journey.

Your friend is www.accorhotels.com I would suggest Perpignan
Hotels from Novotel to Formule 1. If you choose Formule 1 be aware that the bathroom is down the hall. The beds in Etap are extremely hard. The advance booking of the Ibis range although non refundable does get a very good deal.

Sorry to hear you have to go back. I think we need to brace ourselves for a lot of posts like this over the next year or two.

We made the terrible decision to buy into a franchise in Spain and as with most of them it was not what it seemed, we have been struggling to get work and slowly the money has been running out. We have 5 kids and life was fantastic for the younger 3 but the older one's did not have much going for them so they are going to go back to college. I do not think our choice of Javea helped there are a lot of unsavory brits there and my 2 teenagers found it hard to make some decent friends, so it is with some regret we are going back I have loved living in Spain but wish we had moved to somewhere more spanish and not ploughed our money into a dead end business. Life goes on and I have no regrets at least we tried.

Sorry to hear this, a friend of ours 'bought' into a bar and lost his money as the bar closed in August. He lost all his money (£20,000) and didn't earn a cent while he was working in the bar, there just wasn't enough custom. He is now at El Cisne doing 'boot sales' and is happier and actually earning money. He will never get his £20,000 back but he is determined not to go home. Then again, he doesn't have children to think about. Good luck to you if you do return home.
P.s. Just to explain......El Cisne is a boot sale and antiques place just outside Benidorm. A great place to visit for a day out as there is also live music and bars.
