There are always places in any country that we would prefer not to live and places that we would love to live, regardless of whether we were born there or not.

At the moment we are totally content with the life that we have here in Spain and are not planning to return. This is not due to finances, our housing etc but just the fact that we have a gentle, quiet life that we enjoy, in the UK we could probably have the same life. If and when we return to the UK we will not face it with dread because we happen to like the country.

Negative views voiced very strongly are often stated either in order to start an arguement or to cover up a persons true feelings on a subject.

All of us living in Spain have moved here for a variety of reasons and may or may not return for a further variety of reasons.

I feel exactly the same, Rosemary. I love the UK and I love Spain. I had a good life in the UK and have a good life in Spain. I have been reading other posts on this forum about people having hard times here and having to return to the UK. It sometimes hard going back, but the UK is a great safety net when times get tough.

I think the safety net is about the fact that it is the place that we really know, understand the laws and understand the language. Instead of the insecurity that we feel because we are in a different country we feel more secure and more confident and this effects how we think. Like putting on old comfy shoes.

I was thinking of more financial help, as in benefits. The Spanish do not have the safety net in their own country of financial help. My parents had to emigrate to the UK because they had no work, here no work means NO MONEY. If you have paid into the system there is limited help, but it is very limited and only lasts , according to your contributions. A lot of people go back because they miss family etc. I am sure now, (with the economic climate)that most(families of working age with children), will be returning for financial reasons and not personal ones.

Me Me, I agree with everything you say. I am ok in Spain for now but I would hate to live here and have no money, there is just no-where to go for help.

Yes Jackytoo, and lets hope it continues that way, cos we are on our tod if things go pear shaped. If, and I say, IF you are lucky the church might give you a bag of goodies to eat. Pasta, milk etc to keep body and soul together, in return for saying 4 million Hail Marys, if not it is AJO (aguantar y joder).

Good morning to you all it is nearly 8am and the weather is slightly cloudy.

I've said it before and I'll say it again......if you come to Spain without bringing specific required skills, without a plan, and without the commitment to work harder than you've ever done before in your life.....then you're taking a big risk.
If you bring those ingredients to the table then you're on the way. Unless of course you try to take me on in my field within my part of the world.....cos you'll be driven into the ground remorselessly. As three "pretenders" have already found out to their cost.

WE ALL LIKE XTREME (ojo nena) Dont speak for me, do not generalize (which is what you are not allowed to do on this site, as I have been slated for doing so) I dont like him, he might be a wonderful person in the flesh, but I only have this forum to judge him on, and I have formed my own opinion about certain members. This mutual brown-nosing is not for me. I like to have a discussion and try to help others who may or may not benefit from the advice given here, I dont try to ram my way of thinking down other peoples throats, and slate those who don not live as I do. I dont understand the rules about advertising on this forum, is it allowed or isnt it? I once asked about a boat and was told to look in the classified section( fair enough) so why oh why do I see things like the following in this part of the forum.

<Snip, as I said, if you read the rules, you will understand>

El culpable sabe quien es (the guilty one knows who he is)

If it was wrong for me to put my message on the forum (I was looking to buy and not selling anything, which is the lesser of 2 evils if we are talking about advertising) then why is this acceptable. This house for sale is a commercial venture, because dont tell me that the Duque de extremismo lives in such a cheap place. Is it one rule for all rest of us, but another rule for some?

If you want to stay posting on this site please read the rules, espècially 1- 4 - 9 - 14 - 18, the advertising rules and the mods decisions will then be clearer for you. Thank you.

Mods....when are you going to ban these two trolls?

Like I said on the other thread, they work in unison and this is their normal MO.

We ..... meaning of ....Used instead of I, especially by a writer wishing to reduce or avoid a subjective tone, I don't wish to know or speak for you . I suggest you speak with the moderators with regards the issues raised not come here shouting at me, You seem very bitter reading your piece I have just looked in the mirror and sorry no brown nose. I'm off to Church now I have no axe to grind and am at peace with the world.

For any of you following this sorry saga....I'll refer you to this post I made yesterday evening.

I knew the technically savvy accomplice would show their face.....and they have. This has been a situation that's been going on for more than two years on Expat forums....they even got me banned from one. And it's the reason I stopped posting here for quite some time when they were here under another name.

For those of you who are not familiar with this type of behaviour....it's called Internet stalking. And I'd remind all of you that on the Internet not everyone is who they appear to be.
