Default Ayamonte: Border crossing Covid requirements

Just arrived in CE having driven down from Santander ferry and faced the border controls and sanitation inspection etc.
Of course I am driving a GB plated car. What happens if I drive across to Portugal and want to return. Are there border controls for non-EU citizens entering Spain from Portugal at the Guadiana Bridge? I would hate to go to Portugal and be unable to return!
Any experience of driving to/from Spain in a non-EU car?

Hi Mike,
As you know we cross two or three times a week for lunch and it is a long time since the temporary closure 9 months ago there has been no checks at the border at all. If they did drop a stop and search it would likely be for drugs so you should be OK πŸ‘Œ However the Portuguese do have random checks in Portugal and you would be wise to have all your docs in the car. Passports, V5, insurance + proof of payment and MOT.

Thanks John, we'll give it a go.
BTW do you know where we can get good quality bathroom fittings? We've had a bathroom turned into a wet room and the builder wants to instal fittings. Doesn't trust me to drill 'his' tiles. We've tried Abreu and LM with little luck and were thing of a trip to loule.
Maybe see you for a beer or two?

It’s a year or two since we did fittings so not up to date but teedup has just finished a complete refurb of all his bathrooms whilst creating two wet rooms so he will have the best local info. He also has an eye on cost so they were not silly money stuff. He is away till Monday but you could pm him.
