Default Aukus

The UK has done very well to be part of this, but there may well be a downside.

For the French they did not recall the UK ambassador, as they said the UK was simply a minor partner and ridding on the coattails of the US.

France's defence minister has cancelled talks with her UK counterpart and that may just be the start of the UK / French relationship spiralling downwards.

Also, the EU is taking note and trade talks on a deal betwen the EU and Australia that are just about to start have now been put in jeopardy, with talk of them being suspended.

Rightly or wrongly, the point is that the French have the hump and feel tricked and deceived. They will want to exact revenge...

As the French are at the heart of Europe and as the EU are all ears about what has happened, furure agreements and talks between EU as an institution, individual EU countires and the UK may become more fraught.

For those of us hoping that some of the problematic issues that arose out of Brexit would be resolved post-haste, this does not bode well...

EU countries may well adopt the approach with regard to the UK that, if you are not with us, then you are against us.

The wedge between the EU and the UK is only getting bigger...

I think we are in for a bumpy ride. Nothing these days is certain. Not even the existence of the EU.

Not to worry the UK is clearly planning on changing its image so that it appears similar to 1950 East Berlin. Dark, blanket wearing figures queuing for basic food supplies to take home to their freezing apartments where the nightly news beams the faces of portly politicians blaming it all on their enemies and conspirators!!

The supply chain system seems to have gone belly up there.

Over 1 million unfilled vacancies, the highest since goodness knows when.

Macaroni has been exacting his revenge for a number of years already by allowing the people traffickers to use the French coast on an industrial scale, so not a very trust worthy fellow himself IMO

Favourite catchphrase of brexiteers predicting the demise of the EU!

I would say that the breakup of the UK is actually odds on favourite...

Well if Macaroni was unhelpful before, now that he had the hump over Aukus to boot, he is probably on the phone right now to Alexander Lukashenko in Belarus so he can get some tips on how to make the migrant issue ever worse for the UK!

I expect Macaroni will organise busses to take the migrants to the French coast and then supply them will the latest high speed dinghies, khaki camouflage clothing, night vision goggles and detailed instructions about how to claim asylum in the UK.

The migrants want a British passport.

After all, these migrants just want the same as we do!

To move to another country, for a better quality of life.

Don't you just love Brexity trope.

Don't forget the Euro has been about to collapse for nearly 20 years too. It's been the longest death in history.

The map shows the extent of the markets that the UK left!

Unreal....

And now the the UK is in a dogfight with the Irish about the Northern Ireland protocol, the French about Aukus and the long promised UK - US trade has as we speak been trashed by Biden.

Ah but I hear you say, the UK has ´TAKEN BACK CONTROL´.

What a load of poppycock!

UK has become significantly less of a global player, since Brexit.

That's an impressive map!

The EU is not referred to as the largest and most successful trading bloc in the world for nothing.

Don't forget Norway and Switzerland benefit from the single market.

The UK is completely isolated.

true. The more the better. No wonder there is a massive housing crisis in Britain now. My
old semi detached is worth 450k now.Nearly quadrupled in 15 years lol.And as for migrants coming to the UK for a better life? How do you work that out when they can’t ever be legitimate. They probably get stuck in a cannabis farm or a brothel for a pittance. And if they don’t comply they go missing and no one would ever know.

Perhaps a discussion about EU members stepping up to the plate regarding defence might be appropriate as you arent interested in any contribution the UK may or may not make.

the EU member states are very divided over what contribution( if any) that they should make. Been a thorn in the side of NATO for years.

It is funny that Asylum seekers are bypassing EU states in their haste to get to “ isolated Britain” Spain even helps with transport across Spain on their way.
