I second that Sam Mitzy did the right thing snipping private info from the post. I can see you were initially angry John but well done for apologising to Mitzy after you realised the reason for what he did

I wrote a big post about the reasons, but Mitz closed the bloody thread before I could post it.
I know well how he feels.

Never heard of the bloke... but he sounds like a sort of cross between Terry Nutkins and Hugh Hefner....

I shudder when I see some of the details people put on a forum, it doesn’t have to be your phone number, sometimes your avatar, location and what you write is enough to give you away.

I cant see it being any different than advertising something in a newspaper or magazine , every one shows phone numbers and email address`s...so they can be contacted! You use your own judgement as to whether they are timewasters/scammers.

Well if I put my advert in the Leamington Spa Courier for instance with my email and tel no its only seen by the people who happen to buy the newspaper and happen to look at the advert.

If I put it on the internet it can be seen by everyone who has an internet connection, and worse it can be harvested by those wonderful automated systems. To give you an example, I put my email address on my web site, and within a week I was beginning to receive all kinds of Spam and crap, something of course that is irreversible apart from using a spam filter

Derbyflan .... I love you too!
