I've tried logging onto internet banking this evening and keep getting a pop-up of the Solbank online security card (the one you have to use codes from to carry out transactions online) and it's asking me to fill in all the codes from my card into the blanks on this pop-up due to a security (phishing) problem. Methinks this is actually the 'phishing' scam and the request does not generate from Solbank themselves. Before I contact the bank (I'd rather go to the branch in person tomorrow) and make a t*at of myself has anyone else come across this?
Thanks
p.s I've also posted this on other forums to gather a wider audience

We had this happen a while ago on our UK bank site, the page wanted us to put in pin number etc. The Bank informed us that it was a hacking site. We think the problem happened when we said yes to a Java update?
Just take your computer back/reset to however many days since before you think you had a problem.
Go to start then Accessories then System tools then System restore & choose a date.
Worked for us & no problems since.

I've asked my partner in Fuerteventura to go to the bank an ask about this.

This threads a little bit old, however I have to say I use the on line service quite a lot and have not experienced this.
It does ask you for this if you top up a mobile or make an on line transfer

i ve logged on to solbank today with no problem.
however i do sometimes have a problem logging in - i put my id number and access code in and it comes up contract blocked.
i always then have to phone my local branch and they do something at their end and it works again about an hour late.
when i ask them why this happens they don t seem to know!!
just wondered if anyone else has ever had this problem?

Hi all, well I ran an AVG scan and found that, yes, it was in fact a phishing virus
downloaded with a Java update.
I contacted Solbank who told me that they had a number of inquiries about this from other users.
(guess what, I've turned off my automatic updates.)

Hi - have just read your message. I had LOADS of problems with this about a year ago - We were of the opinion that someone was trying to get into our bank acct. The manager at the time confirmed that there was a hacker who had re-created their home page - with the addition of asking you to put in your personal numerical details on the card that you would have been issued for online banking. The bank were excellent and helped me through it. You MUST NOT put any of your details into the fake card reader - or that will mean you will be giving access to whomever is hacking the site. It got to the point that the system would lock me out afer I had accessed the account 10 times - I started keeping a log of the date and time - and if I had used mine or my husbands ligin details. The bank couldn't understand what was happening - and did get on to their IT dept. I now delete browsing history after each time I access the account on line. Best of luck!

Banking on line is so useful but with so many dishonest people around it really does pay to be careful like you are being.
