Denia is OK until the tourist season and then it's wall to wall Germans, it takes 597 hours to drive from one end of the town to the other. I will now be avoiding Denia until October-ish unless I have no choice but go there

oh cr@p.... thats me indoors till october then!
The town is always chocablock, even in winter, at certain times of the day. In the summer, you do have to avoid the times just before and just after siesta as everone travels to and fro work. Once you get to know the timetable, it gets easier. |

(I so don't want to sound like a whinger!).... I personally find Denia too built up and overcrowded for me...although everyone I have met has been so friendly (except the woman at the town hall, but thats a different story)
I speak as a London born lass who spent 10 years in the splendid isolation of the Isle of Mull (Scotland)... its just me, having a problem with built up areas and too many people. I liked the more open feel of Olivo...but as I say, I have ten months to explore the region and find somewhere permanent |

I have to say I like it. I like the street life and buzz, the spanish bits and the cosmopolitan bits. But maybe that's because I don't live there permanently and it's a contrast to my village in the UK.

totally fair.........living somewhere full time is completely different to living somewhere even for half a year
I wouldn't say there were that many Germans there now, it's a bit of a melting pot really. I was surprised last summer when I visited Javea, having warned a friend that it would be full of English - only to hear every other person had a french accent. |

I always feel as though I could live there as it seems to have everything I need. Maybe the traffic would be a problem if I had to drive to work every day but, as it is, I can walk to many bits of the town. I do give the front a miss during the tourist season, as it does nothing for me.
