Default Anyone from Madrid

Madrid by the number of expat groups I've seen advertised in In-Madrid tells me it has a large population of expats. So i was wondering if any of them are posting or reading here.

We're moving to Madrid in the fall (Tres Cantos to be exact) My impression is that most posters here are from the south.

Well, I don't live there, Tres Cantos, now but I did live there for about six months. It;s actually quite nice in a suburban kind of way. Has two shopping districts with a really good Al Campo supermarket in between and a fairly nice central park in the middle also. It's about 25 mins into Madrid and in the other direction you can be out in the Sierra's in about the same amount of time. Sebastian de Los reyes, where Ikea, Media Market, Carrefour etc, are at, isn't far off either.

Hope you enjoy it there...gets pretty cold in the winter though!!

We're in Aravaca, just between J10km of the A6 and the Casa de Campo, out to the WNW of the centre.

Madrid has quite a widely spread expat population: singles, working in a variety of service & professional jobs tend to be located in the city; families are spread all over, but tend to be in the commuter towns outside the centre, where there have been more houses and urbanization apartments built in recent years. There are only a few concentrations, such as La Moraleja, apparently, but it's easy enough to find like-minded expats or avoid them, depending on your preference.

If you need any out-of-town contacts out to the west, let me know. I only know a couple of folk up that way, though. Most of the people I know are central, or out along the A6 towns.

We've been slowly making contacts with people, there are a ton of expat and intercambios groups, but most are shutting down for the summer. Also we are still in temporary housing near sol, once we move and settle in than we'll get more invlolved.

Your are right, the city tends to be more singles, we've been to a few events and we've been the only married couple there.
