Anyone live in Mula who speaks English
Have place in Mula and no-one speaks any English. I'm having difficulties finding local building materials like blocks and bricks and cement in the area. I also need to find an electrician quickly. Can't find an amenity site where I can tip building rubble and can't find anyone to supply me with a skip - I've got quite a pile building up in the garden - HELP!!

Re: Anyone live in Mula who speaks English
We speak limited amount of Spanish but enough to get about on a day-to-day basis. Problem is that Mula is a bit like Venice and keep getting lost in alleyways. The house is at the top end of Mula near the castle and no accessible with a vehicle - even the gas delivery man can't reach us. If we could find somewhere to tip the rubbish we can take it all away ourselves but no-one seems to know what we mean when we ask for the amenity site

Here the recycling facility complete with skip for building rubble is signposted Eco-Parque. As I don't know Mula I can say no more.

Look for your nearest Ecoparc, that is where building rubbish is put. Most areas have one as they fill in sites ready for building industrial buildings.

Do what a lot of Spanish do, tip it over a ravine, preferably in the local beauty spot

According to http://www.carm.es/neweb2/servlet/integra.servlets.ControlPublico?IDCONTENIDO=1537&I DTIPO=100&RASTRO=c64$m the EcoParque in Mula is at
Cordel de las Huertas – Ctra. del Pantano, polígono 48 (junto a la Depuradora)
but I would go and check first to see if they take building rubble.

I think I would (please don't laugh) follow any lorries with skip/rubble in them.. (being wary of the flytipping scenario already mentioned)..and don't assume they're all called amenity sites, our local tip is just literally that, a tip down a track. But it is the town tip!
Re builders lingo, I think someone's pointed you in an efficient direction but in my experience a few words & willing go a long way as long as you don't expect any English in return

Re: Electrician/Plumber Anyone 20 mins from Murcia
Think I'm going nuts - how hard can it be to find an electrician who is willing to work for under EUR 1,000 a day!!! I'm English okay, but I'm not being ripped off. It would be hard to rewire a castle for that amount.
How do you stop the water meter spinning even when you're not using the supply - I went out and came back 5 hours later and it had moved 297 units - are the water meters in units or litres? Anyone know?? I think I'm supplying half of Spain.

I think mine registers in cubic metres & parts of cubic metres, says alongside the little wheels. As to 1000euros, do you have one of those little either English language or Spanish local admag things you could consult? I would have thought 40/hr was over the top hereabouts. Sounds as though you need to make a friend of a Spanish neighbour, and fast

Re: Anyone live in Mula who speaks English
Hi we bought a place in Mula last May which we are doing up. Also up near the castle (Calle Salitre) with no car access. We get a lot of building materials from Leroy_Merlin in Murcia (if you don't know it its a kind of Spanish B&Q. We get materials like cement & sand from the Buiders Merchant (whose name escapes me) on the Carretera de Caravaca going east out of town its on your right. They don't speak much English but are very helpful. Gabbarons, west of the bus station do skips.
We had our house completely rewired and replumbed by 'Paco' for €5000 which did not seem too bad. If you're interested I'll try to find contact details.
Good luck!
Joe
