Default Anyone live in Lanzarote?

Hi, i'm new to this just found the website whilst browsing. I'm wanting to talk to somebody living in lanzarote around the age 18-25. Basically me and a friend are thinking about coming over to work in a bar. Wanting as much info as possible and would be nice to know someone over there. Anyone who can give me advice or point me in the right direction? Much appreciated

As Concierge for the Spanish section of BE I would like to say hello and welcome.

BE is a very large expat website, so if you have problems finding your way around we have concierges who will try to direct you. The moderators for the Spanish forums are Mitzyboy and Fred James, moderators are there to ensure that the site runs smoothly within the rules of BE. Problems and complaints should always be addressed to a moderador who will look into the matter and deal with it efficiently and fairly. Our members who post in the Spain Forums are friendly and helpful with a wealth of knowledge of the issues of living in Spain. At the top of the page you will find a quirkily named thread called Free Beer which is full of important and useful information. Hope you enjoy your time participating in the forums.

Please let me know if you need any further help.

Hi

Why are you wanting to move and to work in a bar? Unemployment is rife here in Spain, including the Islands, more so than in the UK, and there are lots of people looking for work, including lots of Spanish or Canarian people.

Please don´t take my word for it as I´m sure there will be others offering you advice.

Hi Canz - I see you haven't popped back since your original post... so not sure if you'll see this.

My stepson is just about to turn 21 (in June) and still lives in Lanzarote (we left in September).

Summer season is busiest time for bar work... and Puerto del Carmen is your best bet. Not as many jobs as there used to be, but they are about as so many youngsters head over and forget they are there to work, preferring to get hammered and sunbathe. You are very very unlikely to get a job before you arrive. Best advice is to get there with enough money to see you through for a few weeks, and then go around all the bars... not just once or twice... but 3 or 4 times. You can pick up a job by simply being in the right place at the right time.

If you are on Facebook, I am happy to put you in touch with Sam - just drop me a PM and I'l send you a link to his profile. He's a good kid... albeit a bit of a loon at times (I'm his Stepmum, so perhaps a little biased). He doesn't do bar work, he has a full time job in a different industry - but from his status updates he spends enough time in them!! Tonight he's off to Costa Teguise for carnaval!

Good luck.

Elle xx
