Is anyone feeling the pinch?
As I will be living on a UK pension when moving to Spain, I wondered if anyone in a similar situation over there has suffered due to the current exchange rates. I calculate that a drop from last year of about 1.40 euro to the £ down to the current 1.32 will mean about 3000 euros a month less in income!!

I started a thread on this in Siesta time, and got very little input. Not only pension r/ex implications, but investments on stocks / shares down also.

I don't know what a pension you're on but let's take a round figure of £1000 per month. At 1.40 euros per pound you would get 1400 euros, at 1.32 euros you would get 1320 euros a difference of 80 euros or am I missing something? apologies if I am |

Re: Is anyone feeling the pinch?
The impact of this is HUGE.
It means for Brits looking to buy property, suddenly property prices are much much higher. Of course this will reduce sales and so many people I know are reliant on the property market. Unless you are making your living in euros then every time you transfer your pounds you receive less and less. The pound is according to most experts due to fall further. As pointed out this will have a major effect on pensioners. Mark |

Re: Is anyone feeling the pinch?
We are around 100 euros a month less on our state pensions which is a big drop when prices here are rising all of the time. I dare'nt look at the shares, all investments are in a downward spiral at the moment and it doesn't look set to improve.

Re: Is anyone feeling the pinch?
Now I've taken tax into consideration it looks slightly better, as less income means less tax. So it means I'll be 200 euros worse off - not 300.

Re: Is anyone feeling the pinch?
We have noticed a difference not just with the exchange rate but with everything else seeming to rise but hey suppose it is no difference if living in the UK. Just got to cut down on the beers!
