Well, that explains why the medications I've been prescribed by hospital specialists have been put on my card without me having to ask my GP to add them, just luck that they have been ones subsidised by he public health system. It's a shame you have to pay full price for these eye drops, though.

Re: Anyone ever claimed expenses for hospital visits?
I was on a max dose of statins but I had some problems with them. The hospital prescribed an injection instead. Every 3 months for a year and then twice yearly. They seem to be effective with no apparent side effects. The only snag - they cost €4000 a shot! The Spanish health service does not seem to worry about the cost if they deem it an effective solution.

To get back on topic - my 'claim' for petrol money was finally paid out last Wednesday - quite a wait but 104'72€ was credited to my bank account -
which is about 2 tankfuls (pre-war prices!) so given the mileage involved is actually about right. Worth bearing in mind, or maybe it's a Valencia region thing only! |

Andalucia does have a similar system for reclaiming costs if a patient isn't able to use public transport either because of distance or for medical reasons, as yet neither my husband or I have had to claim. |

Yes, I have no complaints (for once hahaha), and it was unexpected (before I was given the claim forms), so you live and learn.
I hope sharing can help others. |
