I have just searched my phone call record a different way and found the verification call from Saturday, it is the identical French number? I don't know what phone you use but worth seeing if there's a way of adding a trusted number and putting that one in?
It may be that the number 08 whatever in the previous link is used to send verification to UK numbers and the French number to overseas numbers? |

Just added the French number to my contacts - and again no incoming call was received.
Can I ask - from those that this system works - are you receiving their call on a Spanish mobile number connected to Movistar? (which is what I want to do) |

I receive it to my Spanish number but my provider is ON not Moviestar

I have searched on Moviestar blocking calls. There are a couple of queries re people being unable to receive calls from outside of Spain. It mentions that the caller receives the message unable to connect. Unfortunately the queries have been from English people and the moviststar reply is that they don't communicate in English so there is no help given. I guess that may be what's happening Movistar are blocking the calls rather than your phone. I think you need to put the problem to Movistar rather than NS&I. They may be able to unblock that number for you?

I've always used a UK number, but my iphone has a dual EE UK sim and Movistar sim for Spain. For the crack, I just added my movistar number to my list of numbers on NSI. I then logged out of NSI and cleared all cookies. I then logged in using a private window, so to all intents and purposes I was logging in like it was a new device. At the login page, after entering my sign on details, I was given the option of using either the EE or the Movistar number to receive the call. I selected Movistar and within seconds got a voice call from +33 3 59 82 79 80, exactly the same as bobd22.

My phone is Android - and yes that is the French number I added to contacts.... Ironic I get spam calls some showing international numbers but can't receive the NS&I call...!! (don't answer the spam by the way) Just checked out their NS&I app but it's only for prize checking and not signing on. (and its got terrible reviews) So bottom line - NS&I will call to Spain from a mystery number in France and it works on Spanish mobile Movistar numbers - except mine! I will wait and see if their tech team ever make contact. Thanks again all. |

Have you also checked your list of blocked numbers for that french number? Might also be worth digging around on the Movistar page with your account/phone settings just in case there is some global setting on the account you aren't aware of.
The problem certainly seems to be with your phone, and if that is the case, then NSI won't be much help. From what I've just learned, it is straightforward enough to add and manage phone numbers on the NSI site. Obviously the problem is how you get past the login, so for that, I'd go back to my previous suggestion, and see whether NSI will add an alternative phone number for you. Once you've logged on, you can then check and make sure the number they have for you is the right one and delete the temporary number once you have solved whatever is the problem with your main number. So far as NSI apps are concerned, there are indeed two, one is the prize checker and the other is for the accounts. They both have been updated recently, and I think both now work very well. The prize checker lets you add paper bonds as well as family members holder numbers. The accounts app I only use occasionally but seems to do everything I've wanted so far. |

You mentioned having problems with spam. Have you added some kind of security app to filter spam calls? If you have that may be filtering that number out as spam. I say that as when I got called from that French number this morning Google suspected it as possible spam and I updated it checking the box for verification call. It has to be something to do with your phone apps, settings or your specific Movistar account settings. I doubt there is anything NS&I will be able to resolve.

I have the NS&I financial app on my phone and it works fine let's me manage all my accounts and premium bonds. Unfortunately to set it up you will need to go through the verification process.

Quick question. When you get to the part of the login that shows your phone number does it have the +34 at the beginning? You should then see the first three digits of your number , three asterisks and then the last three digits

Yes, my number in the NS&I system is correct. The spam calls have eased off lately (if you have not had them lucky you!) and I block them as they come through. The only way I have to block them totally is to ban all incoming calls not already on the contact list - which is a bit drastic and I have not done it. I will give NS&I another call when I have the time. Thanks again all |
